Our Work

We’re excited you’re here! Through our research, our aim is to inform and influence policy debates and contribute to sound decisions that create economic and racial equity for individuals and communities across Colorado. You can look at some examples of our work below or explore our site.

Over the next few months, we’ll also be holding learning sessions for the public on the racist roots of tax policy and offering an ambassador program that gives you the tools to address systemic racism in our tax code. If you’re interested, sign up to learn more by sharing your email at the bottom of the page!

Why Do We Do This Work?

Carol Hedges, Executive Director

It has been my lifetime mission to develop and promote policies that ensure that as many people as possible have what they need to live their most complete and happy lives.

Kathy White, Deputy Director

Fiscal and economic policies lie at the root of what we do together as a society to guarantee opportunity, to champion equity, and to foster prosperity for all.

Esther Turcios, Legislative Policy Manager

I wake up every day to do this work because I know that our voices and commitment to justice creates change for us now and for future generations.

Elliot Goldbaum, Director of Strategic Communications

I firmly believe in promoting fairness and equity in our tax system. It’s the best way to create a bright future for everyone in Colorado regardless of race, ethnicity, or zip code.

Caitlin Schneider, Outreach Manager

I do this work because our decisions directly affect our communities and fighting for fair and equitable economic policies help keep Colorado the state we all love.

Chris Stiffler, Senior Economist

I get a lot of energy in teaching and taking complicated topics that typically make people’s eyes glaze over and making them engaging and understandable.

How Can I Get Involved?

There’s no time like the present to get involved. We’re building a movement that puts people first—regardless of where they’re from or the color of their skin—when it comes to our economy and way of life.
