Acclaimed political economist and former U.S. labor secretary Robert Reich will be the keynote speaker at the 2014 Fiscal Forum, an event presented by the Colorado Fiscal Institute on Jan. 10 at History Colorado and formerly known as Budget Works.

Reich, former labor secretary under President Bill Clinton, has been a contributing editor to The New Republic and also writes frequently for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Financial Times.

He will speak about rising income inequality in the United States and its negative effects on the entire economy. A screening and audience discussion of Reich’s new award-winning documentary, “Inequality for All,” will follow morning programs.

This year’s event will feature Natalie Mullis, Chief Economist for Colorado Legislative Council, who will speak on Colorado’s economy and managing revenue in an environment constrained by TABOR, and Chris Stiffler, Economist for CFI, who will unveil a new way to measure economic prosperity. There will also be a panel discussion featuring Dee Wisor,  Partner at Sherman and Howard and Mike Mauer, Director for Colorado State Legislative Council, focusing on how to tackle income inequality given Colorado’s unique fiscal constraints.
