Tax Ambassador Program

6 module train-the-trainer course

The Colorado Fiscal Institute is launching a six-module virtual series for you to become a tax ambassador – a knowledgeable advocate prepared to talk to your fellow Coloradans about crafting more equitable fiscal policies. This set of train-the-trainer classes will dive into Colorado’s tax code, teach you the ins and outs of Colorado’s fiscal constraints, and give you the tools you need to talk to your community about creating a tax code that works for everyone.

Through these six courses, you will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of Colorado’s tax code
  • Explore the historical reasons behind why racism is at the root of many of our tax policies
  • How we can use tax policy as a tool for racial and economic justice
  • Actions that can be taken to create equitable tax policy
  • Have all the tools you need to give a presentation to your community about Colorado’s tax code

Racist Roots of Tax Policy Webinar

Tax policy isn’t race neutral. In fact, the history of its development shows us how it has been used explicitly as a tool for discriminating against people of color. Tax policy has been a powerful tool for shaping our country’s political, social, and economic landscape and has contributed to further consolidation of wealth and power into the hands of a small, predominantly white, group of people in the United States. But tax policy can also be wielded to undo those harms, right past wrongs, and build a more equitable future. It can be a tool for creating a true and healthy democracy.

The Colorado Fiscal Institute invites you to join us for a zoom webinar to understand the history and reasons behind why racism is at the root of tax policy, and how we can change the tax code to create a system that builds a more equitable future. Join our CFI team during this discussion about our tax code.

We are hosting this event several different times. Click here for a list of dates and times we are hosting these webinars.
