Colorado is facing budget cuts despite having one of the fastest growing economies in the nation. The Coloradoan quotes CFI’s economist Chris Stiffler, in their story on how “TABOR is chocking us”. The Tax Payers Bill of Rights or TABOR, caps the amount of tax revenue the state can collect based on a formula that accounts for population growth and inflation. The bottom line however, is that this formula is outdated and does not keep up with the rapid growth Colorado is experiencing, forcing the state to make budget cuts.
