Santa Fe New Mexican talks marijuana tax
CFI’s Communications Director, Tim Hoover, was quoted by the Santa Fe New Mexican in a piece highlighting the large economic boost rural communities, like Trinidad, Colorado, are receiving from legal cannabis. Since Colorado legalized marijuana 3 years ago, Trinidad has been able to use marijuana revenue to replace old infrastructure, pay down debt and redesign a city block for a growing arts community. Although Trinidad has found great value in legalized marijuana, the overall effect for the state is not as large; marijuana revenue barely makes up 1 percent of the entire state budget.
