CFI Economist Chris Stiffler is in Washington, D.C. this week attending the White House Summit on Working Families, hosted by the White House, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Center for American Progress.

The goal of the summit is to bring national attention to the effort to make American workplaces more family-friendly, especially for working women. CFI has been part of an effort to enact paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance, or FAMLI, legislation in Colorado. The object is to create a statewide insurance program paid by employee premiums that would partially cover the wages of workers who have to miss work to care for an ill child or family member or for the birth or adoption of a child.

Partnering with 9to5 Colorado, CFI last year produced a research paper that estimated the costs of creating a FAMLI program. Read the paper, which economist Chris Stiffler wrote, here:
