Where does Colorado rank in terms of income taxes? What about school funding per pupil? How does Colorado’s corporate income tax rank among states? What about its gas tax?

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was one place to find answers to all these questions? Well, now there is. It’s called, “The Purple Book: A Colorado Compendium of Useful Fiscal Facts.”

Here at CFI, we think the state budget is everyone’s business, so we have created an easy-to-read guide that gives basic information about the state budget and taxes as well as many simple explanations about policies and laws that impact Coloradans.

Want the facts on TABOR rebates? CFI can help

Posted October 20, 2014 by Colorado Fiscal Institute

They’re baaaack!

It hasn’t happened in more than 10 years, but the state is on the verge of tripping the Referendum C revenue limit and thus triggering rebates under TABOR. The rebates would come at a time when the state still has not been able to restore vital services decimated during the recession.

In short, with TABOR rebates, we’ll be turning off the firehose even though the house is still engulfed in flames.

The Colorado Fiscal Institute is available to help your organization get a better understanding of what TABOR rebates are and why they appear likely.

We want to make sure Coloradans have the facts about why TABOR rebates would be triggered, what happens when this occurs and what the larger implications are. That’s why CFI is offering to make presentations to community groups about TABOR rebates but also to make special presentations to other nonprofits so that they may communicate this information to their constituencies.

This is an important topic that touches every person in the state. If you’re interested in having CFI speak about TABOR rebates to your group, please call Caitlin Schneider at 720-379-3019, ext. 225 or email her at schneider@coloradofiscal.org

With your help, we can spread understanding about what’s happening and how we keep the discussion focused on building a strong middle class and an economy that works for everyone.
