Letter explains no vote on Amendment 71

The Grand Junction Sentinel compiled letters from individuals all across the state of Colorado, explaining their position on the 2016 local ballot measures. CFI was listed as an organization who is opposed to Amendment 71, also known as “Raise the Bar”. This Amendment would make it harder to amend the constitution by requiring petitioners to obtain signatures from at least 2 percent of voters in each of Colorado’s 35 state senate districts. This makes it much more expensive to run a statewide signature campaign and means that one single senate district could have veto power over the petition.

If this measure passed, it would limit the power of the people and put the power in the hands of the wealthy.
