News.Mic quoted CFI on marijuana tax revenue

CFI’s communications director, Tim Hoover, was cited in a piece by News.Mic regarding the impact marijuana taxes has on school funding. While school-specific taxes generated $13.3 million in 2014, Colorado’s marijuana taxes have already generated a total of $13.7 million through the end of May. Although this additional revenue is helpful, it is important to note that the marijuana taxes are not going to solve our current budget problems. The revenues generated through marijuana taxes are modest when compared to the overall state budget and these revenues alone will not have an extensive impact on operational funding for any school districts.
