CBS quotes CFI on paid tax preparer regulations

CFI’s director of tax and legislative policy, Ali Mickelson, was quoted by CBS in an article warning taxpayers about the low regulation levels of tax preparers. Unless you are a resident of California, Oregon, Maryland or New York, your tax preparers may not be as qualified as you think. These four states are the only states that require paid tax preparers to be licensed and tested for basic level of competence.
